When opening our installation package (.pkg), macOS may display the following message depending on your security settings:
“Apple cannot check whether ‘XYZ.pkg’ contains malicious software that may damage your Mac or compromise your privacy.”Cause:
This message appears if under System Settings → Privacy & Security → Allow apps downloaded from only App Store is enabled. Our software is signed and notarized by us, as a verified developer (MolecularBytes), but it is distributed outside of Apple’s App Store.
How to continue the installation:- Open System Settings → Privacy & Security.
- Scroll down until you see the message referring to “xxxxxx.pkg”.
- Click “Open Anyway”.
- In the following dialog, confirm again with “Open”.
- In Privacy & Security, go to Allow apps downloaded from.
- Temporarily select App Store and identified developers.
- Double-click the xxxxxx.pkg file to start installation.
- Afterwards, you can revert the setting if desired.
Note: Replace xxxxxx.pkg above with the actual installer file name (e.g. AtomicReverb-2-0-0.pkg).
